'MATTERS OF FAITH ON THE BLASKET' The annual Blascaod Commemoration is held in Ionad an Bhlascaoid in Dún Chaoin to celebrate and comemmorate the Great Blasket Island, an island off the Kerry coast which was evacuated in 1953 and whose community left us with a rich and unique literary heritage. Each year, a certain aspect of island life is studied, and this year's theme is 'Matters of Faith', with special reference the beliefs and values of the Blasket People. A wide programme of lectures, stage productions and other events will be held during the weekend of the 24-26 September.
